Maria’s first match in over two years takes place this weekend, February 25th — her 30th birthday — at New York’s Family Wrestling Entertainment. She is due to face former WWE star and current TNA Knockout, Tara.

Speaking exclusively to Diva Dirt, Maria talks about why she’s returning to the ring, how her training for her comeback has gone so far, and what her future may hold in the business.

We also talk to the Diva-turned-First Lady of ROH about joining the promotion, the differences between working in Ring of Honor and WWE, the reactions from the notoriously tough ROH crowds, the backlash to her “First Lady” moniker, and the other women on the roster (including Mia Yim).

Though she’s no longer part of WWE, fans may be surprised to know that she still genuinely cares about the WWE Divas division and has opinions on the current product. Maria talks about the recent storylines with Natalya and Eve Torres, as well as revealing what happened when she spoke to Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis when she recently visited backstage at a Raw taping.

Plus, Maria weighs in on her passion for the business being questioned (as stated earlier, many expected her to leave wrestling after WWE), juggling womanhood and a family while being in the wrestling business, and her role as a mentor to women like Jessicka Havok and others.

In recent weeks, we’ve the third generation Diva pass gas in backstage segments — and even in the ring — before rushing off embarrassed.

Trish, who was once infamously made to bark like a dog on TV, weighed in on the storyline when probed by Diva Dirt in an interview.

Speaking to Diva Dirt Live, Trish admitted that she hasn’t seen any of the material yet — “SmackDown tends to fall off my radar”, she says — but she did offer this: “I haven’t seen it so I can’t comment on it directly, but hopefully it’s one of those things where it just gets people talking and it’s kind of like the Molly Holly thing where [we had] the ‘junk in the trunk’ [storyline]. People were like, ‘I can’t believe they’re doing that to her’, but at the end of the day, it got people interested, it got people invested, it got people into what they’re doing and you have something to talk about.”

When Diva Dirt explained the Natalya segments to her a little more, Trish added: “I think it’s fantastic, actually. Now I’m speaking [on what was explained to her] — I haven’t seen it… I think it’s funny, it’s interesting, it’ll allow Natalya to do a little bit of acting, step outside her comfort level and do some fun things with other characters.”

Seeing the positive in the situation for Natalya, Trish who has achieved much success in her own career, offered some advice to Natalya: “I think any material is good material. Take it, do what you will with it. It’s like the ‘junk in the trunk’ thing, at first they’re like: ‘We’re gonna make fun of your big butt, which you don’t have, by the way’. Natalya doesn’t really have a flatulence problem so it’s okay. It’s character stuff.”

“At the end of the day, that’s what Molly Holly and I did. We said, ‘Okay, we’re going to turn this into an angle’. We turned it into an angle and we got chants going in every arena we went to. To me, everything that they give you – go with it. Run with it, take it and turn it into something else. Take it and turn it into something more powerful than just a fart.”

WWE.com has released a video of Eve Torres cutting a promo in front of the live crowd at SmackDown which wasn’t aired on the live Syfy broadcast.

In the video, Eve attempts to explain her recent actions towards Zack Ryder and John Cena.

The #1 Unified ranked flyweight and one of the best pound for pound female fighters on the planet, Fujii has never been finished; losing only once via decision versus Bellator tournament champion Zoila Gurgel. Before that she was on a a 21 fight win streak – unheard of in MMA in general.

Fujii is a submission specialist. Coming from a Judo background, Fujii is trained by Strikeforce heavyweight and shoot wrestler Josh Barnett. She has been known to snap limbs if you don’t tap out. Outside the cage, she is a true sweetheart, as seen on her Twitter account.

Bellator is planning a bout between Fujii and #2 Unifed ranked Jessica Aguilar sometime in late spring, which will be live on MTV2.

Fujii will be interviewed this week on the premiere episode of MMA Uncensored on Spike TV. The interview will feature Fujii’s opinion on Miesha Tate versus Ronda Rousey and Cyborg’s failed drug test. The show airs this Thursday on Spike TV after Impact Wrestling.

The joshi star made quite the impression at the last set of tapings (volumes 41-44) in October 2011. She was all business upon her arrival in Chicago, showing everyone there that she was not in SHIMMER to make friends, but rather to prove her worthiness as a wrestler inside the ring. Kana even went as far as to refuse handshakes with some of SHIMMER’s top wrestlers.

She then went on to wrestle in well-received matches against the likes of Cheerleader Melissa, Sara Del Rey, Mia Yim and LuFisto.

Believe it or not, we, the esteemed Diva Dirt staff, operate under rules and guidelines, and most importantly, we have deadlines. Granted, I usually throw two of the three out the window on a weekly basis when I consistently praise Prince Dolph for his overwhelming hotness and launch into pointless conversations with myself over which guy is hotter, but I’m very OCD when it comes to the whole deadline thing. And this week, I’m kind of stressing over this whole deadline. Up until about 30 minutes ago, I was completely oblivious to the fact Prince Dolph had his own YouTube show. I think each and every single one of you know exactly what that means. I said to hell with life and trolled YouTube for that very show. The four episodes I watched were beautiful. It didn’t even bother me that our Prince was blatantly sexist and dropped the line: “Men rule everything.” He could gladly rule me, so before I cross that PG line, let’s just talk about why what I’m rambling about now is relevant to what happened on Raw last night.

The absolutely insane Zack Ryder/Eve Torres/John Cena love triangle took another dramatic turn that has ignited nothing but controversy. People are slamming it for it’s hypocritical nature due to the Be a STAR campaign. Other people, myself included, are praising it as the best opening to Raw ever. And to me, it was. When you watch World Wrestling ENTERTAINMENT you have to view it as just that: entertainment. The storylines are outlandish and are constructed by a writing team to resemble a ridiculous soap opera. Last night, that continued in a twist that shocked the hell out of me, and certainly didn’t make the feminist inside of me rage. In fact, there’s really not much of a feminist inside of me. I’ll rock out to Celine Dion (much like I am now), Alanis, and Melissa Etheridge, but you can believe that if a hot band boy were to shove his CD in my hands, I’d turn my music off, flash him a smile, and listen to it with him. That’s just how I am. And call me crazy, but I LOVED the angle on Raw last night. Hey, if I shared a steamy kiss with John Cena, I’d certainly want more of it.

And I certainly wouldn’t burn my bra over the angle either. What a waste of a perfectly good Victoria’s Secret push-up. I mean, seriously! Anyway, lets take a look at Eve in all her crazy heel glory, and see exactly why people are so up in arms over what went down last night on Raw!

Before we could even get the actual show started last night, Eve was shown backstage talking to Brie and Nikki Bella (who would be in action later on in the night). The Bellas, to their credit, didn’t seem too impressed with Eve’s actions last week towards the lovable Zack Ryder. They called her out on it, and you know that when the Bella Twins call you out on something evil, you’ve done something pretty bad. Shockingly enough, Eve didn’t seem to show any remorse. In fact, she dropped an uber bombshell and told both twins that she had absolutely no regrets and to be honest, she never had any feelings for Zack anyway. She was just using him to get her name out there and now she was moving on to the top star in the company. The Bellas seemed repulsed, and rightfully so. What kind of a trollop uses two hot men to further her career? As if.

(I have it on good authority that later on that night the Bellas were very angry that Eve stole their gimmick. They’re worried they will never score Alberto Del Rio and those luxury cars now.)

Eve then went on to reveal that she was going to see John Cena and that she wanted the Bellas to video tape it. She had her phone ready to record and all that, but as she turned around, lo and behold, there was Cena. And apparently he heard every word. Judging from the look on his face, he didn’t seem too happy to hear that Eve wanted to use him. Eve was stunned speechless. The Bellas just seemed amused.

Cut to the official Raw opening, and cue Cena’s music. He comes to the ring and he’s got something to say. But someone else decides to walk to the ring as well. And that someone is Eve.

Like sands through the hourglass…

O-M-G.

Hoeski. Eve crying and being escorted out of the ring. The fact she literally tried to shove herself on him right then and there. Words can’t even describe it. It was everything a slutty heel gimmick should be and then some. Do I care that it makes Eve look bad? Hell no. What I care about is that some of the greatest Divas of all time have been given this same gimmick and ran with it. That’s all Eve did last night and the fact one simple heel turn has evoked so much emotion from the fans and the wrestling community should speak volumes. People are talking about Eve. It’s not all positive, no. But when people aren’t speaking about you at all, that’s when you have a problem. When people sit on their hands and have no reaction to you, that’s a problem. Like it or not, Eve is super over right now and she’s following in the footsteps of Stephanie McMahon, Trish Stratus, and Lita – all women who have been branded as sluts, whores, and hoes – over the course of their respective careers. I can’t believe Eve has gotten this push but I love every single second of it, and personally, I can’t wait to see how she rebounds from it.

I think  I plainly stated in my Diva Dirt profile that my dream gimmick would be using John Cena and blackmailing him in order to get to the top of the WWE so I could start my own stable of hot men wrestlers, and Eve is living my dream. I’m jealous. I’m hating her. I’m living vicariously through her. WWE is a soap opera. That’s how they portray themselves. Eve is getting paid to play this role much like Alison Sweeney  gets paid to play the conniving, scheming, loveable, cheating, and sometimes downright slutty Sami Brady Hernandez (previously Reed, Walker, Roberts, DiMera) on Days of Our Lives. It’s no different and I personally don’t take it seriously because it’s the WWE and it’s just acting.

Anyway, there was also a match which I alluded too earlier. The Bellas took on the most random team ever in the form of Kelly Kelly and Aksana.

For me personally, this match was pointless, but I can’t find it in myself to hate it. As random as it was, it wasn’t bad, just really short. Aksana, whom I probably haven’t seen wrestle since NXT looks as if she’s improved. I wasn’t exactly digging her ring gear, but she looks fantastic with black hair. Kelly, on the other hand, should wear that black gear more often. She looked amazing and it was good to see her on Raw again. I’ve missed my 2K! The Bellas winning was a nice treat. I love these girls so much and I want them to get more of a spotlight. I’ll take this short little victory and hope that it leads into better things.

That said, what I would have rather had on Raw was some type of follow-up from the Elimination Chamber. Beth and Tamina put on a hell of a match on Sunday and it needed to be brought up in some capacity. I am a patient woman, however, and if they some type of angle on SmackDown, I’ll be okay with that too.

All in all, I enjoyed Raw tonight. The continuing evolution of Eve Torres as a character has me hooked even if the creative staff did steal my gimmick and give it to her. Now, if her theme music suddenly changes to “Crazy Bitch” by Buckcherry, I might have to ask some questions…

Torres turned heel on last night’s episode of Raw, citing that she was only using Ryder to further her career and planned to use top WWE star, John Cena too. However, her plan was foiled as Cena overheard her confession to the Bella Twins.

The report suggests that injured WWE Diva Layla, who should be ready for her return soon, may be paired with Zack Ryder in the feud.

Thoughts: Sounds like a plan! With all signs pointing to Kharma vs Beth Phoenix in the Divas Title feud, that would leave Layla without a high profile comeback angle, but this certainly fits the bill. With Zack Ryder as over as he is and Eve getting the heat she is at the moment, it’s a hot storyline for Layla to possibly return in.

One of the biggest all-female MMA cards is set for April 28 as InvictaFC will have it’s inaugural card in Kansas City, MO.

In the main event, former Strikeforce 135 pound champion and the #2 Unified ranked Bantamweight Marloes Coenen will be back in action, in a rematch against #10 Unified featherweight Romy Ruyssen.

Marloes Coenen

Coenen (19-5) is an 11 year veteran of the sport, winning the Strikeforce title against Sarah Kaufman in October 2010. After having what was the comeback of the year in 2011 with the submission of Liz Carmouche, Coenen would lose the title to Miesha Tate last summer. Coenen was let go by Strikeforce due to a contract dispute.

Romy Ruyssen

Ruyssen (5-1) is a slick and dangerous 22-year-old grappler who has claimed all five of her career victories by way of submission in the first round of battle.  Four of the five wins came via armbar. Her only blemish was a 2008 loss to Coenen. Ruyssen is coming off a first round submission victory over Florence Berthe this past November in Belgium.

Strikeforce and Bellator veterans also are a part of the card. Bellator’s Lisa Ellis (14-7) and Jessica Penne (8-1) will battle it out in the co-main event at 105 pounds. Strikeforce Liz “Girl-Rilla” Carmouche (5-2) will take on Ashleigh Curry (1-0), while Sarah D’Alelio (4-2) will take on Shana “Rock Solid” Nelson (5-2).

“The time has come for a platform dedicated exclusively to building the growing women’s division in our great sport,” said Invicta Fighting Championships Vice President, Shannon Knapp.  “Invicta is committed to increasing the depth of the women’s field and building female superstars by providing women athletes with the opportunity to compete and hone their skills on a consistent basis throughout the year.”

The rest of the card includes top ranked fighters Sally Krumdiack and Amy Davis, plus the MMA debut of Olympic Bronze medalist wrestler Randi Miller.

The InvictaFC card will emanate from Memorial Hall in Kansas City, MO on April 28. The event is expected to be either televised or stream. We’ll report viewing details as it becomes available.

We start Raw off backstage with Eve and The Bellas as Eve reveals that she was not only playing Zach Ryder, but plans to use John  Cena as well. -We start with the four ladies already in the ring. Kelly and Bella Twin #1 start the match. Yet again another super short Raw Divas match that sees Bella Twin #2 sneak in and hit a Bella Buster on Aksana for the win.

Thoughts: Short Divas match yet again.

HOWEVER! I will totally let it slide this week as we had that SUPER awesome segment between Cena and Eve. Heel Eve is great. She is such a natural heel and that charisma really shone int he backstage segment. Her and The Bella Twins really played off each others energy and her and Cena together were dynamite. Now moving forward: Eve really needs to do something dastardly to Cena or Ryder to really cement herself as a super heel. Maybe cost Cena a match, or keep messing with Ryder’s heart. Whatever works to make the fans to keep hating this girl.

Fans are abuzz about the possibility of Kharma returning to take on Beth Phoenix, and Trish agrees that she’d like to see that match too. “Kharma coming back, that was a surprise at Rumble. I think that’d be a really cool match actually.”

However, Trish also had another idea in mind involving the seemingly defunct Divas of Doom, Beth and Natalya. Speaking to us on Diva Dirt Live recently, Trish said: “Personally, I would’ve loved to see Natalya and Beth go and run towards ‘Mania.”

“If you’d asked me a year ago what I would book for ‘Mania this year, I would’ve had Beth and Nattie run together as a team and I would’ve done the Triple H/Batista angle where I would’ve had [Natalya] turned and at the end, we’d have those two at WrestleMania. To me that would’ve been an epic moment,” the 7-time Women’s Champion offers.

“Maybe that would’ve been a good time for Nattie to win the championship back or something like that.”

Welcome everybody to what may be the shortest recap in the site’s history. You see, this week we took a break from the recent string of matches the females have been partaking in down at FCW, and instead, got a few nearly silent segments! In fact, of the three women involved this week, only one of them actually said a word. I figured that because this is the official on screen debut of Paige (Britani Knight/Saraya), I shall bring it to attention in case next week gives anything more to what transpired tonight. In other news, Maxine is also present this evening, as she gathers the entire roster together for a pre-show meeting… but it appears that Summer Rae was a bit too preoccupied to show up on time. Now let’s get started!

FCW standout Seth Rollins can be seen sitting on the ring apron earlier in the day before the show got underway. Out of nowhere, a black haired “unknown” woman, that we of course can identify to be the newest addition to the roster, Paige, walks forward and presents him with an HP computer. (Clearly she wasn’t feeling the Apple he has going on seconds before.) She turns the screen to face him and seems to point him to an intriguing web page that causes him to blurt out the word “shoulder”. He looks back up at her in a state of confusion, but she quickly slams the laptop shut and scurries off, leaving him dumbfounded asking who she was, and reiterating the phrase, “shoulder”. Hmm…

Later on in the show we are taken to a full roster assembly that took place earlier in the day. Some familiar faces such as Audrey Marie, Sofia Cortez, and Raquel Diaz can each be seen amongst the crowd, while we then head inside the ring to see our General Manager, Maxine, standing alongside Norman Smiley, Dr. James Bronson, and her new assistant, Abraham Washington. First off, she thanks everyone for coming to the meeting, followed up with a compliment that they are all doing a great job here at FCW. A change of tone then hits, as she announces that she got a memo from the office stating that everyone must see Dr. Bronson before they can continue their job. Maxine adds on that she has already attended her appointment, which we saw a few weeks ago, and that it was “quite the experience”.

To somewhat build his credentials, Maxine proclaims that he is supposed to be the best in the world, and that nobody on the roster has a choice in the matter. Before she can continue, a door soon slams shut, and in walks William Regal, Summer Rae, and her scribe! The entire roster turns around to see what is going on, but the three head to the front of the group as Maxine glares angrily at a radiant Summer. The blond bombshell simply smiles and poses at our GM, before Maxine picks up where she left off when she was rudely interrupted. She then states once again that everyone must go to their appointment! From there, she concludes her speech and we head back out to the commentary table where Byron Saxton and Chris Russo discuss their future appointments and question what William Regal is doing alongside Summer Rae again!~

Thoughts: Hopefully I made this work and not look ridiculously small. To kick things off, I absolutely support the pairing of Seth and Paige. He is one of the most popular superstars in the entire territory, and working with him is only going to do wonders for her as she receives a prominent role on the television show. I’m pretty intrigued to see where this whole “shoulder” thing is going, but I like that there’s a bit of mystery as to wonder what she showed him on the computer that we couldn’t see. Absolutely can’t wait for the next two weeks to see how the rest plays out between them, and of course, whatever soon follows. Dare I say that if they team up I may collapse from the amount of greatness that would transpire?

I also really like that the Maxine/Summer Rae storyline has a spot on the show every single week. FCW gives all of their matches a good amount of time, and for that reason, sometimes certain angles or people don’t appear on each show because they simply don’t have enough time on the 42 minute program (once you cut commercials). No matter if the segments are brief, they get a spot each week to continue this program, and I like it. Summer, judging from last week, can definitely shine on a microphone when given it, and working against Maxine will only do great things for their promos together. I long for the day they get a couple minutes to really go at it back and forth as that will be a sight to see.
