TNA Kncokouts – April 12, 2012 iMpact Results: Velvet doesn’t Eat Defeat, ODB & Eric Tie the knot…in their Undies?

On the April 12, 2012 episode of iMpact wrestling Mickie James and Velvet Sky faced off against Knockouts Champion Gail Kim and Madison Rayne, while ODB and Eric Young were married in a steel cage.

TNA Kncokouts – April 12, 2012 Knockouts Match
Gail Kim & Maison Rayne vs. Mickie James and Velvet Sky

- Madison Rayne and Mickie James start off the match, Rayne tries to control Hardcore Country, but ends up on the receiving end of a drop kick which puts Mickie in control, until  Gail Kim distracts her and Madison takes her down with a stiff kick to the side of the head. Maison only gets a two count and tags in her BFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF Gail. James lays Kim out with a Flap Jack, Mickie tags in Velvet Sky, and Gail wants none of her tagging in Madison. Velvet with a School Boy roll up, then some chops, Mickie tags herself in as Velvet hits a Snapmare on Maison and Mickie hits a SICK Baseball style Dropkick. The ref is for some reason scolding Velvet and Gail lays Mickie out with a Tomahawk Chop, Madison gets a two count. Gail’s back in and working over Hardcore Country, a Eurpean Uppercut, some stiff strikes to the jaw and lower back. Madison tags in and the former Tag Team Champs send Mickie into the corner. Madison flies into her with a Corner Avalanche, and then the Knockouts Champion gooes for her patented sliding Body Block, but James moves out of the way and Kim crashes to the floor. Mickie and Gail both recover, and Mickie tags in the Number One Contender. Velvet flies in like a bat outta hell. Hairpull Slam. Flying Clothesline. Back Elbow. Shoulder Charge Takedown. Flying Headscissors. And a Bulldog to boot! This brings Maison in to break up a pin attempt. Velvet lays out Maison with a (awkward looking) Snap DDT as Gail tries to escape to the back. Mickie drags her back tot he ring and throws her back in. Gail tries to hit the Eat Defeat, but Velvet reverses it into an In Yo’ Face and gets the three count, and a full hea of steam going into this Sunday’s Lockddown!

Also on iMpact we had the wedding of the year as ODB & Eric Young tied the knot…until they were interrupted by Sarita and Rosita, who wants a piece of Young, and show off some sexy, smexy lingerie they bought just for him. This prompts ODB to take off her dress and show off her…ummm…”gifts”? Which prompts Eric Young to tell her how she’s all he’s ever wanted. They then exchange vows…in their underwear.

Thoughts: Decent match. This match reminded me of why I have a problem with Velvet Sky: The girl is too inconsistent for me. Last week I said she was one of the better girls in the Number One Contendership match, and tonight she looked so awkward and out of place in the match. Tonight Mickie James was the match MVP for me. That dropkick to Madison looked straight up lethal, and Mickei played the ‘Damsel in Distress’ to a tee. Velvet vs. Gail this Sunday is going to be hit of miss. I think Velvet will regain her title, and hopefully TNA lets her hold it for a little bit more than 28 days this time.

The wedding was what most wrestling weddings are. Over the top. ODB’s dress was GORGEOUS and I’m glad they had her camo instead of trying to ‘class’ her up in white. It’ll be interesting to see what becomes of the ‘happily married couple’.

TNA Knockouts – March 29, 2012 iMpact Results: Tiara’s, Pigeons & Wedding Planners! Oh My!

On the March 29, 2012 episode of iMpact Wrestling Madison Rayne faced off against Velvet Sky in a one-on-one match, while ODB and Eric Young met with a wedding planner.

- We head backstage to see Knockouts Champion Gail Kim and Madison Rayne sitting awkwardly in a room together. Gail tries to reach out to her former BFF, but Madison shrugs her off saying to not touch her. Gail then gives her an AMAZINGLY beautiful tiara and the two patch everything up.

TNA Knockouts – March 29, 2012 iMpact Match
Madison Rayne vs. Velvet Sky

- Out first, with her new tiara, is the Killer Queen herself. Madison basks in the audiences boos and cat calls as Velvet Sky comes down to the ring and lets the pigeons loose, but as soon as Velvet goes to climb the turnbuckle Madison attacks. Rayne easily dominates the majority of the match with stiff forearms and chokes until Velvet gets in a Snapmare/Low Dropkick combo, only for Rayne to take back over, until Velvet hits a sick spear and a Bulldog. One ‘In Yo Face’ Sit-out Doubleunderhook Facebuster later and Sky has her hand raised in victory.

Winner: Velvet Sky at 2:01

-Post match Velvet Sky tells Christy Hemme she’s aiming for Gail Kima nd her Knockouts Championship!

-Somewhere else ODD & Eric Young meet with a wedding planner and things go downhill very very quickly as the rough around the edges ODB sends the planner packing and lets Young know all she needs is a couple of rings and her and him int he ring, three days before Lockdown…in a steel cage! Young is more than thrilled and the two share a kiss to close the sweet segment.

Thoughts: Madison Rayne and Velvet Sky had a decent match, not as good as their one a couple weeks ago, and it was a little on the short side, but it got over what it was supposed to get over: Velvet is gunning for Kim and her Knockouts Championship. I don’t know how I feel about this. Velvet and Gail don’t mesh very well in the ring and truth be told I would have rather seen a Gail-Madison re-match at Lockdown. But I’m not in charge of the Knockouts, so my complaints fall on deaf ears. Now onto the backstage segment. TO be be completely honest I went “Awhhhhh” when ODB said she didn’t need anything fancy, just Eric Young and her in the ring. I know I’ve complained about the ODB & EY a lot, but it’s segments like this that make me like them a whole lot more. So overall not an amazing in-ring night, but all the backstage and post-match segments leave us with a pretty clear picture of where we’ll be in pre-Lockdown iMpact episodes.
